آج کل لاھور  میں سموگ کے بادل چھائے ہوئے ہیں یہ اس سموگ زہر قاتل سے کم نہیں اس نے بچوں بڑوں بوڑھوں کی زندگی کو اجیرن کر کے رکھ دیا ھے جس سے نا صرف  لاھور بلکہ سارا پنجاب اس کالی آندھی کی لیپٹ میں ھے

آخر یہ زھر قاتل سموگ ھے کیا سموگ کالی یا پیلی دھند کا نام ھے جو فضاء میں آلودگی سے بنتی ھے یہ ذرات مختلف گیسیں مٹی اور پانی کے بخارات اسے مل کر بناتے ہیں اس کی بنیادی وجہ صنعتوں گاڑیوں کوڑا کرکٹ اور فصلوں کی باقیات کو جلانے سے سلفر ڈائی آکسائیڈ نائٹروجن آکسائیڈ کی بڑی مقدار میں ذرات بھی ھوا میں شامل ھو جاتے ھیں جب سورج کی کرنیں ان گیسوں پر پڑتی ھیں تو یہ سموگ کی شکل اختیار کر کے فضا کو آلودہ کر دیتی ھے اور دوسری جانب جب سردیوں میں ہوا کی رفتار کم ھوتی تو دھواں اور دھند جمنے لگتے ھیں تو یہ زہر قاتل سموگ کی شکل اختیار کر لیتے ھیں دھواں دار گاڑیوں اور آئیرکنڈشنر کے خطرناک گیسیس کا دھواں گردو غبار وغیرہ شامل ہیں سب سے بڑی ظلم کی انتہا یہ ھے کافی عرصہ سے سڑکوں پر سے سالوں پرانے درخت کاٹ کر چھوٹے چھوٹے بے کار پودے لگا دئیے گئے ہیں جس سے ماحولیاتی آلودگی دن بدن بڑھتی جارہی ھے جس سے عوام کو شدید مشکلات کا سامنا  ھے اس وقت پاکستان میں جنگلات کی شدید کمی ھو چکی ھے

زرعی زمینوں پر ھاوسنگ سوسائٹیوں کے بننے سے مستقبل کے لیے مشکلات پیدا کی جا رہی ھیں اور ان تمام سوسائٹیز میں کھجور اور بے کار پودے لگاۓ جار ھے ھیں جس سے لاھور میں فضائی آلودگی اور سموگ کا مسئلہ سنگین سے سنگین تر ھوتا جا رھا ھے شہر کے مختلف علاقوں میں ائر کوالٹی انڈکس ایک ہزار سے بھی زیادہ تجاویز کر چکی ھے ظلم کی انتہا  تو یہ ھے کہ ھمارے پاس فضائی آلودگی چیک کرنے والے آلات بھی ترقی یافتہ ممالک کی بانسبت کوئی زیادہ موثر نہیں ھیں اس صورت حال میں شہریوں کا سموگ کی خطرناک وجہ سے سانس لینا بھی دشوار ھو گیا ھے ۔

لاھور پچھلے کئی سالوں سے سموگ کے زیر اثر ھے جس سے عوام بے شمار بیماریوں کا شکار ھو رھے ھیں مثلاً نزلہ زکام کھانسی آشوبِ چشم سینے کی جھکڑن بزرگوں کے نظام تنفس کو اس زہر قاتل نے آڑے ہاتھوں لیا ھے اور دمہ کی شکلیات میں دن بدن اضافہ ھو رھا ھے دھواں کی ایک بڑی وجہ اینٹوں والے بھٹے دھواں چھوڑنے والی گاڑیاں ،ترقیاتی کاموں کے لیے زمین کا جگہ جگہ سے کھودنا مٹی لانے والی گاڑیاں جو مٹی کو  ڈھانپے بغیر شہر میں دنددناتی پھرتی ھیں  اس سموگ  کا سبب بن رھی ھیں اس کے ساتھ ساتھ ماحولیاتی آلودگی کی ایک وجہ یہ بھی ھے کہ بارشوں کا وقت پر نہ ھونا

 محکمہ ماحولیات اور دیگر متعلقہ شعبے خواب غفلت میں ڈوبے  ہوئے ہیں  سواے بینرز آویزاں کرنے کے علاؤہ۔ عملی طور پر کوئی کام نہیں کرتے

جب سموگ آتی ھے تو متعلقہ احکام ایک ارڈرز جاری کر دیتے  ھیں جسے لوگ اسے  ہوا میں اڑا دیتے ھیں 

اصل بات کی طرف توجہ ھی کوئی نہیں دے رھا  لاھور میں لاکھوں کروڑوں گاڑیاں دن رات چلتی ہیں اور خطرناک دھواں چھوڑتی ھیں

ماحول دوست ایندھن سی این جی اسٹیشنز کو پٹرولیم مافیا نے ویسے ھی بند کروا دیا ھے 

اھم رھائشی علاقوں میں یورپ طرز کے سنیکڑوں بند پلازے تعمیر کر دیئے ھیں ۔جہاں پر لاکھوں اے سی سال میں تقریباً دس مہینے چلتے ھیں اور نہایت خطرناک گیسیں چھوڑتے ھیں جو گرمیوں میں فضا میں اوپر چلی جاتیں ھیں سردیوں کے موسم میں بھاری ھو کر نیچے آتیں  ھیں جس سے شہر میں سموگ بنتی ھے جو انسانوں کے لئیے انتہائی خطرناک ثابت ھو رھی ھے

سموگ ختم کرنے کا سادہ سا فارمولہ ھے کہ شہر میں چلنے والی گاڑیاں کم از کم دو دن بند کر دی جائیں اور بغیر دھواں چھوڑنے والی گاڑیاں چللائی جائیں جس سے دھواں پیدا نہیں ھو گا

اس کے ساتھ پلازوں اور دیگر عمارتوں کی تعمیر میں لوکل موسم کو مدنظر رکھا جائے ھر عمارت کی منزل پر کمروں کے ساتھ کھلی بالکونیاں تعمیر کی جائیں جیسا کہ انگریز دور کی تعمیرات ھیں دفاتر گھروں شاپنگ سینٹرز وغیرہ میں

 اے سی کا استعمال کم سے کم کیا جائے تاکہ ان کی چھوڑی ھوئی خطرناک گیس سردیوں میں نیچے آ کر سموگ کا اسباب نہ بنے

سائیکل کلچر کو  دوبارہ رواج دیں چنگ چی سے جان چھڑائی جاۓ جو نہ صرف شہر کو آلودہ کر رھی بلکہ کئی لوگوں کی جانیں بھی لے چکی ہیں

ماحول دوست ایندھن سی این جی کو دوبارہ سے فروغ دیا جائے زیادہ سے زیادہ درخت لگائے جائیں کیونکہ سموگ کے دوران ترقی یافتہ ممالک میں مصنوعی بارش برسائی جاتی ھے جو بہت مہنگا عمل ھے شہر میں دھواں چھوڑنے والی گاڑیوں اور فیکٹریوں کا سد باب کیا جاۓ تو اس زہر قاتل سموگ سے نجات حاصل کی جا سکتی ھے.

Smog and its Effects on Life

Nowadays, clouds of smog have engulfed Lahore; it is no less than a deadly poison. It has made life miserable for children, adults, and the elderly, affecting not only Lahore but all of Punjab, which is caught in this black storm.
So, what exactly is this deadly poison called smog? Smog is the name for black or yellow fog that forms from pollution in the atmosphere. These particles are created by various gases, dust, and water vapor. The main causes are industries, vehicles, garbage, and the burning of crop residues, which release large amounts of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides into the air. When sunlight hits these gases, they take the form of smog, polluting the atmosphere. Furthermore, in winter, when wind speed decreases, smoke and fog begin to settle, transforming into this deadly smog. The smoke from vehicles and the dangerous gases from air conditioners, along with dust and debris, contribute to this problem. The greatest injustice is that for a long time, old trees have been cut down from the roads, and small, useless plants have been planted instead, leading to an increase in environmental pollution day by day, causing severe difficulties for the public. Currently, Pakistan is facing a severe shortage of forests.

The construction of housing societies on agricultural land is creating difficulties for the future, and in all these societies, date palms and useless plants are being planted, which is worsening the issue of air pollution and smog in Lahore. The air quality index in various areas of the city has exceeded one thousand. The height of injustice is that our devices for checking air pollution are not much more effective than those in developed countries. In this situation, it has become difficult for citizens to breathe due to the dangerous causes of smog.

Lahore has been under the influence of smog for several years, causing the public to suffer from numerous diseases such as colds, coughs, eye infections, chest tightness, and respiratory issues in the elderly, while the cases of asthma are increasing day by day. A major reason for the smoke is brick kilns, smoke-emitting vehicles, excavation of land for development projects, and soil-carrying vehicles that roam the city without covering the soil, contributing to this smog. Additionally, a reason for environmental pollution is the lack of timely rainfall.

The Environmental Department and other relevant sectors are lost in a deep slumber, doing practically nothing except hanging banners. When smog occurs, the relevant authorities issue orders that people disregard. No one is paying attention to the real issue; millions of vehicles run day and night in Lahore, emitting dangerous smoke. Environment-friendly CNG stations have been shut down by the petroleum mafia.

 

Hundreds of European-style closed plazas have been constructed in major residential areas. Here, millions of air conditioners operate for about ten months a year, emitting extremely dangerous gases that rise into the atmosphere during the summer and fall back down during the winter, creating smog in the city, which is proving to be extremely hazardous for humans.

 

The simple formula to eliminate smog is to stop the vehicles running in the city for at least two days and allow only non-polluting vehicles to operate, which will prevent smoke production. Additionally, the local climate should be taken into account during the construction of plazas and other buildings, with open balconies built on each floor of every building, similar to the constructions from the British era in offices, homes, shopping centers, etc.

 

The use of air conditioners should be minimized so that the dangerous gases they emit do not settle down and cause smog in the winter. The bicycle culture should be revived, and the use of rickshaws should be reduced, as they not only pollute the city but have also claimed many lives.

 

Environmentally friendly fuel, such as CNG, should be promoted again, and more trees should be planted because, during smog, developed countries induce artificial rain, which is a very expensive process. By eliminating smoke-emitting vehicles and factories in the city, we can rid ourselves of this deadly smog.
